Fair Work Foundation is a social effort that aims to provide underprivileged populations in peri-urban India, especially those working in the informal sector, with access to justice by removing barriers to legal understanding. Through multiple channels, Fair Work Foundation aims to address both the immediate need for legal representation as well as the long term need for educational resources on constitutional and labor rights.
The project utilizes informational resources such as the Article 21 Monograph, a compilation of the main employment and welfare laws for daily wage laborers in multiple local languages and the Preamble Primer, a five-chapter handbook focusing on Constitutional Labor Laws. In addition, Fair Work Foundation also aims to implement the ILAC Legal Aid Access Network expert-led sessions delivered by licensed professionals focused on teaching participants about their legal rights in the informal sector, accompanied by the Legal Aid Access Network Database, a thoroughly researched collection of pro-bono and subsided legal services in India;
In an effort to promote awareness among younger students, Fair Work Foundation will also host the Article 19 Debate Competition, allowing school-aged students to engage with legal and political themes. These initiatives will further by complemented by the the Article 39 Fundraiser, a crowd-funding campaign raising funds to support informal sector workers in accessing legal aid through sponsorship of their legal consultations and court fees
